Getting Started

WordPress website

Install the official Honeylog plugin from WordPress.org and connect it to your site.

Use this guide when you can install plugins from the WordPress admin area. If the website uses WordPress VIP, follow the separate WordPress VIP installation instead.

#Step 1: Install the official plugin

  1. Open the WordPress admin area.
  2. Go to Plugins, then Add New Plugin.
  3. Search for Honeylog by secondbreakfastio.
  4. Click Install Now.
  5. When installation finishes, click Activate.

Before continuing, confirm that Honeylog appears in the list of active plugins.

Open Honeylog on WordPress.org

#Step 2: Connect the plugin to Honeylog

  1. Create or open the website in Honeylog.
  2. Go to Settings > Installation and select WordPress.
  3. Copy the Token and Site Domain values shown by Honeylog.
  4. In WordPress, go to Settings, then Honeylog.
  5. Paste the values into the matching fields.
  6. Click Save Settings.

Before continuing, confirm that WordPress shows that the settings were saved.

The values look like this in the public guide:

Token: SITE_TOKEN
Site Domain: SITE_DOMAIN

The plugin already knows where to send the visits. You only need to enter the two values above.

#Step 3: Verify the connection

  1. Open a few public pages on the website, outside the WordPress admin area.
  2. Wait up to one minute.
  3. Open the website in Honeylog and confirm that new visits appear.

The plugin sends visits once per minute, so they may not appear immediately. If nothing appears, open another public page, wait one more minute, and check Honeylog again.
